Booked the bike in for tyres, brakes and a service for Friday. Will be all set then for the 2000km+ spin round Ireland that starts on Sunday at 7am in Dunboyne and finishes in Skerries the following Sunday evening.
The route is officialy 1168kms but as I'm a marshal and will be up and down the road all day I expect to double it.
Route is here http://www.anpost.ie/AnPost/IrishCyclingRas/Route/
We will be 3/4 hours ahead of the main race on the http://racetheras.com/ charity fundraiser hoping to raise 250k for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute and Aware.
Last year we wanted to raise 100k for Cancer Reasearch and Goal. We raised 140k+.big.gif

There will be up to 175 cyclists, (it varies daily), 3/4 motorbikes and a support crew in vans, cars, minibuses etc.
Keep an eye out and giz a wave if you see us.

That sounds like my worst nightmare.... i hate cyclists.... fuckers should need a license the same as the rest of us. The spin sounds like a good laugh though and some nice mileage being clocked up

Cheers guys. These cyclists don't hang around. I clocked them last year at 68kph at one stage coming into Castleisland. Three years ago in the Alps I had to pull over and let a guy go by. I was using engine braking coming down the mountain and this nutter was peddling like the clappers to go faster. All this on tyres as wide as a pencil. This combined with a lid that only covers the top of your skull and fingerless gloves as your ATGATT makes you appreciate the balls out lunacy of it.
