Hi Guys,

do rules specified here http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/vrt/vrt-guide.html#section2 apply to cars only or do you do the same for motorcycles? I mean does one need to take motorcycle to NCT centre for a pre-registration check?

many thanks, Mike

same process as cars. There is a section in there explaining costs too, look for VRT Category M - Motor-cycles - EU Classification L1 - L7. I've also seen elsewhere that the bike must be able to run before they will VRT it.

having the VRT appointment booked now, is the person allowed to continue riding on foreign registration and foreign documents in the meantime?

Not 100% sure but I'd say you can seeing as you have the 30 days grace between importing the bike and registering it, plus you have the appointment made.
