Spent 5 years in Scotland working between offshore and the office in Dyce just outside of Aberdeen. So on my weeks off I went all around Scotland and found some fantastic places.

If your going to Fort William then you just have to drive to Malleg and catch the ferry over to Skye. Drive up through Skye until you get to the capitol (portree) there are loads of B&B there. Then you can leave Skye from the North East side via the road bridge which will take you to Inverness via Elan Donan castle (the one used in the "highlander" film), fantastic site to see as you drive up the loch.

Anyway, that's just one idea, if you want anymore info on Scotland and her environs then I would be please to help. Just drop me a message.

Have a good one, hope the weather stays fine for you.

That sounds a great run Kevin, and I'd love to see the Castle. We're tryin to book B&B at the moment, so when thats finalised, I'll drop you a message with the details, and I'd be very thankful for any help you could give, as a personal recommendation is worth its weight in gold

Scotland is one of my favourite countries for biking. The route you have planned is great. Travel the road from Inverness to Fort Augusta..its brilliant, its all along the bank of Loch Ness. Great little cafe in Fort Augusta called the Scouts Den, they do a great breakfast. Then Travel onto Oban and Fort William and then onto Loch Lomond. TBH all the roads are great.I also would'nt worry abou booking anywhere as there are tons of places and all with good high standards, I've yet to spend time in a bad b&b over there.

Some tips huh?... besides not eating yellow snow or...

Or.....pissing into the wind piss.gif
Or.... Don't buy expensive 'ribbed' condoms, just buy an ordinary one and slip a handful of frozen peas inside it before you put it on. smiley-sex018
Or.... Don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply stand closer to the object you wish to view. nutso.gif
Or...Avoid arguments with the missus about lifting the loo seat by simply pissing in the sink. banana005.gif
Or...SAVE petrol by pushing your bike to your destination. Invariably passers-by will think you've broken down and help. motorcycle5.gif
Or.....MAKE shopkeepers feel like criminals and con men by carefully checking their change and holding bank notes up to the light before accepting them. jailed.gif
Or....NO TIME for a bath? Wrap yourself in duct tape and remove the dirt by simply peeling it off. storm.gif
Or....Housewives: When nipping out to the shops, remember to carry a stiff broom in the boot of your car. Use it to sweep the broken glass to the side of the road every time you have a minor accident.

Only tip is .....dont have one....and enjoy yourself....!!!

Google Penikuik B&B, it's only 10 minutes outside Edinburgh on the A702. I stayed there for a couple of nights last year, it's a lovely wee town.

Sorry Jonners, that should be Penicuik. I hope you get sorted and enjoy the trip.

Although I am Scottish I spent very little time exploring the Highlands, I suppose you never appreciate what you have on your doorstep. I go over whenever I can now.

Looks like a good route you have planned, you will do it in 4 days no problem ,the roads are very quiet after Dunoon not too many petrol stations the further north you go ,there are 2 ferries from the greenock area to Dunoon and the weather is usually good in may

Rain gear....bring it. It's cold too.....have just come back from Scotland on the bike.

Road from Cairnryan.....careful. Alot of upgrading road works. Mucky roads, new tarmac. Other than that.....great road. Lashed down it yesterday.
